2024 Fresh Perspectives in Cinematography Grant

Exactly one month ago today, the 5th of Jan, I was coming down the iced Nevada Fall Trails with my brother and my cousin, exhausted yet enchanted with my first Yosemite's experience. I could have have never imagined that the day could get any better than that, but it did. At the feet of the mountain I received a new email, and it said:

"We are pleased to inform you that you have been chosen as a recipient of this year's Fresh Perspectives in Cinematography Grant, an AbelCine cinematographer’s grant program in partnership with ARRI and the ASC.

After careful consideration, you and your Underwater Criminal Investigator project pitch were selected by a panel of judges from the many submissions we received. We were greatly impressed with your cinematography skills, the overall quality of your pitch package, and the originality of your idea. We are excited to see it come to fruition..."

I could not believe what I was seeing, I had to read it a few times to be sure I was reading it right. We filmmaker receive so many 'kind' rejection letters that when we ready 'you have been chosen' it feels like we hit the jackpot. I recorded this video and sent it to my producer, Rooj, to inform her of such an amazing first big step forward in the making of this film.
